I receive quite a number of request to re-post this tutorial. I have posted this earlier but I took it down due to several reasons. I have readjust the earlier article to make this tutorial as general as possible.
I will make the tutorial simultaneously for both iPad and Android Tablet. In general, all Android Tablet such as Samsung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom, Asus Transformer and etc can use this methods too. However for this tutorial purposes, I will only use iPad for the visuals. The steps are almost similar for Android Tablet.
However, to make it simple below are the steps.
Step 1: Allow your office computer to be accessed remotely
At your office computer, if you’re using Windows XP (i think it should be similar for Vista and Win 7), right click at ‘My Computer’ icon and click ‘properties’.

Now, at ‘System Properties’, select the ‘Remote’ tab. Click at the checkbox (put a check sign) at both ‘Remote Assistance’ and ‘Remote Desktop’.
Clik here to view.

Enable Remote Desktop
Once you’re done with this, you’re ready for the next step.
Step 2: Get the IP Address.
Now you’ll need the IP Address of your office computer. Click ‘Start’, and select ‘Run’. Type ‘cmd’ and click ‘OK’.
A black DOS window will appear.
Important: Please take note of the IP Address (10.xx.xx.xxx), copy it in your notebook for your usage at home.

Step 4: Connect your iPad/ Android Tablet to VPN Network Using Cisco AnyConnect
Go to Apps Store on your iPad or Google Play on your Android Tablet and search for ‘Cisco AnyConnect’. Download and install it on your iPad/Android Tablet.

Now, click on the AnyConnect icon. We will now setup the VPN Connection. As mentioned in my earlier note, you need to have access to your company’s Workforce Portal.

Cisco AnyConnect
- Once you get to the screen above, at ‘Choose a connection’, click Add VPN Connection.
- Now, add your company’s workforce portal address on the ‘Server Address’ field and click Save.
- Enter your username and password and click connect.
- Now you’re connected to the VPN and if you would like to view your intranet, you can do it so starting from this point.
- You’ll see the screen below. In the PC Address Field, enter the IP Adress that you got from Step 2.
- Now click Connect on the left sidebar and you’ll see the new connection with your office computer’s IP Address on the right side.
- Click the Connect to this new configuration and you’ll see the program trying to connect via Remote Desktop connection.
- Now you’ll be seeing familiar Login screen at office computer. Enter your username and password and you’re good to go.
